Welcome to the website of Helen Spring...

Welcome to my website and I hope you find it useful, a place where you can find out about the five books I have published so far. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a writer is the response from readers, who are often kind enough to let me know their views. I myself am an avid reader, and am more than happy to welcome you all.

I was born in the Black Country, in the industrial Midlands of England, as were my parents and grandparents, and my first book ‘The Chainmakers’ paid homage to that background. During the war my parents moved to Shropshire, and so I spent an idyllic childhood in that beautiful county.

I have always written, but in my youth it was mainly articles and short stories, to fit in with the demands of earning a living. When I took early retirement I decided to indulge my love of history in my novels. I also write short stories and dabble in poetry when I can.

My latest publication is a collection of short stories called ‘Pick ‘n Mix.’

I now live on the Wirral where I also teach Creative Writing.
